Location
Conveniently
located on Route 12, 7 miles South of Montpelier and 2 miles North of
the common in Northfield, the law office of Steven H. Atherton is at the
intersection of Route 12 and Cox Brook Road in Northfield Falls. The
corner lot sits high above the Dog River and is adjacent to the first of
the three covered bridges along Cox Brook Road. Directly across Cox
Brook Road is the Falls General Store. The Dog River is renowned for its
trout fishing. In fact, Mr. Atherton, who is not a very good fishermen,
even caught a 21" brown trout just a few hundred yards downstream at the
Falls.
Driving Directions
From
the South. Exit I-89 at Exit 5. Take a left on to Route 64 heading
towards Northfield. Travel several miles along Route 64 until it
intersects with Vermont Route 12 North at the bottom of a long hill.
Turn right on to Route 12 heading North. Drive past Norwich University
and the Northfield common. The office is about two miles past the common
on the left, just past the Falls General Store. If the speed limit
increases to 50 mph again, you know that you have gone too far!
From
the North. Exit I-89 at Exit 8. Continue straight for about a mile
and then take a right onto Route 12 heading South towards Northfield.
Drive for about 7 miles. As you enter Northfield Falls you will see the
welcome to Northfield sign on the left and the speed limit will change
from 50 mph to 30 mph. You will then see a big gray house with maroon
trim on the right. That is the office. (See the photo on this page.)
Just past the office, on the same side of Route 12, you will see the
Falls General Store.
From the East or
West. If you are coming from the East or West and using one of the
back roads, such as: the Warren Mountain Road that enters Roxbury at
Route 12A, the Moretown Road that becomes Cox Brook Road, or the Cross
Town Road in Berlin (more commonly known as Earhart Hill), then you
probably know how to get to the office. If not, please call for
specifics as locals may tell you that you can't get there from here!
